I love this thing. Allows me to choose what I put in my sushi and eat it fresh. I will say when closing it up, it sometimes makes a mess, but three or four times and I really got used to it and made much less of a mess. My advice, heavily load the bottom portion, ensuring the upper piece is lined up with the two grooves, and then put a smaller amount of rice on the top portion. When you close, tilt at an angle so no part is going completely over the other part. . This leaves much less room for anything falling out when closing. Once it's closed, put the cap on tightly. Then screw in the plunger and push to the cap to ensure an even size all the way through. Extrude onto the nori starting with the top edge of the rice combo to line up with the top edge of the nori, and pull the device backward as you plunge out the contents. Do NOT try to plunge the contents out while leaving it in the same place! This will not work and will make a mess! Roll up the nori tightly on the rice and seal with a little bit of water.
I bought this to celebrate our anniversary. Wanted to make sushi at home as a way to save money so I bought this to make everything easier. I've made it before with the bamboo rolling mats in their very much more difficult to use. I'm just in was great. You wanted to make sure the rice gets all the way to the edge. That way when you close it you have a full roll because if you don't it will start to fall apart. Other than that it was easy to clean and easy to use. Make sure it's on the hindges properly before you go to close it. It could get messy.
Made for the first time and was super easy and delish. I had difficulty closing and holding plunger at same time, but daughter helped. Looks pretty professional for first time ever. The bazooka is light weight, but sturdy. Hope it holds up, because sushi is a hit with our Granddaughters.
Buy this now. If you're making sushi, you're already spending lots of money. Believe me I know. Spend a few more and save yourself. I made rolls 2-3 times faster than those peasants (my friends) rolling their sushi with a bamboo hand roller. Everyone was jealous.
I had heard mixed reviews on these but they looked so easy I had to buy one. Turns out this actually works. My girlfriend and I have used it about 4 times since we bought it and it's been awesome. My tip for using this would be to make sure you really pack it up before you bazooka.
This is the best thing for easily making sushi at home. We made sushi before but it was difficult to get a uniform size and my husband tended to make larger rolls (i.e. harder to eat in one bite). The Sushi Bazooka makes at home sushi look as perfect as restaurant sushi but you get to customize all of the ingredients. Easy to use and easy to clean. Be careful not to use too much pressure when squeezing/turning the knob to squish the ingredients together--keep in mind this is made of plastic. I've used it to make breaded zucchini "coins" (instead of tots), it could probably be used to make small cookie dough rolls too--I'm trying that next.
Tested out the new sushi bazooka for dinner tonight. It's awesome! Really easy to use. (much easier than just a traditional rolling mat.) My kids had a great time helping too. (5, 7 & 12) If you get one, make sure you pack the rice tight, especially at the end that comes out first. Found that out the hard way on the first roll. Also, cold water for your fingers & the knife so the rice doesn't stick to everything. It is easy to put together & take apart and clean. Well worth the $14, especially if you will use it often.
Pretty good gadget. Easy to use. It's the work intensive nature of making the rice just right and chopping a million things that will make me choose a sushi restaurant over the diy version 9/10 times. But. This is still a neat tool.
This is a game changer! Yes, I make sushi with the bamboo mat and it works fine, but there is waste. The ends are usually smaller than the middle. This sushi bazooka makes it perfect every time!!! You can make all sorts of variations and because the bazooka compacts the rice, you can even use brown long grain rice. I purchase 4 and gave them to my college age daughters who LOVE making sushi with their roommates. I'm going to buy more for gifts. You will not be disappointed.
This thing is AMAZING!! RUN DO NOT WALK and BUY THIS if you love sushi! Makes near perfect rolls EVERY TIME. I couldn't stop making them because it's so much to use! It's really fun for a couple to have a date night, making it together was so much fun. The rolls came out awesome (we used crab, crab salad, avocado, and cucumber with jasmine rice) and they're delicious! Trust me, if you like sushi, you need this in your life! Best money spent!
This product works great! Was able to do 25 rolls for our party in no time. Way better than some other sushi methods ( including the traditional bamboo mat). Guest actually started helping make the Sushi and had fun doing it.
It is a little more difficult to use than the video's make it look, but it's a lot of fun anyways! I've gone to a couple of parties and made loads of california rolls, for only $10 worth of ingredients. So much cheaper than restaurants, but just as good, and a fun novelty food for home and parties!
